March 19, 2008: Workshop on EnergyBus Plug and Standard Battery Systems for Rental Services, Hsinchu
Speeches and discussions were dedicated to public charging infrastructure for electric bikes and scooters. Rental systems and charging stations are nothing new, but earlier attempts failed mostly due to the lack of a common standard. Such an industry standard enables products of different manufacturers to be part of the system or to upgrade to later battery technologies. A major topic was the security of such a system. The prototype of a battery vending machine served as an example to discuss ways and extend of suitable protection.
